Andrei Arshavin had played for Russian sides Zenit Saint Petersburg and Kuban Krasnodar before he signed for FC Kairat in the Kazakhstan Premier League. He had also played for Arsenal in the Premier League.

On March 18, Andrei Arshavin signed for FC Kairat in the Kazakhstan top flight. He put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the option of a second year. Arshavin started his career as a player of FC Kairat very well as he bagged the Player of the Month award for the first time in July 2016. Two months later, Arshavin won the Player of the Month award game again. His impressive form in the first months of his time at FC Kairat ensured that the Kazakhstan Premier League side activated the option of an extra year in his contract. The additional year was confirmed by FC Kairat in November 2016. In his first season in Kazakhstan, Andrei Arshavin won the award for the best player in the top flight. Also, Arshavin won the Kazakhstan Super Cup in 2017.

Andrei Arshavin confirmed that his exit from FC Kairat was imminent on November 5, 2018. The petite Russian star revealed that in six days’ time, he would be playing his final game for FC Kairat.

Arshavin was already a veteran when he signed for FC Kairat in the Kazakhstan top flight, but he was still able to show his quality on the pitch. A few weeks after leaving FC Kairat, Arshavin announced his retirement from football.
